❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about subtitles, video quality, and using KimoiTV on your devices.

📌 Quick Answer: Are subtitles gone?
No! Every video on KimoiTV contains subtitles. We have moved to soft subtitles on newer encodes (720p / 1080p), which gives you the freedom to choose from multiple embedded subtitle languages. Older 550p KDrama encodes still have hardcoded English subtitles and will remain unchanged.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open the video in YUX Player (download from Google Play).
  2. During playback, tap the screen to bring up the on-screen controls.
  3. Look for the “CC” icon (usually in the top-right or bottom toolbar).
  4. Tap it to open the subtitle selection menu.
  5. Choose your preferred language from the list of embedded subtitles (e.g., English, Spanish, French, etc.).
  6. The subtitle will appear instantly. You can also adjust size, color, and position in YUX Player’s settings.

💡 Tip If you don’t see the CC icon, try tapping the screen twice or look for a “…” menu for more options.

Yes! 550p KDrama videos have hardcoded English subtitles — they are burned directly into the video.

  • You don’t need to enable anything — subtitles are always visible.
  • This format will not change for now, so you can continue watching without any extra steps.
  • If you prefer soft subtitles with language selection, we recommend upgrading to the 720p or 1080p encodes.

We switched to soft subtitles (also called embedded or internal subtitles) to give you more flexibility:

  • Multiple languages — choose from English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and more.
  • Customization — adjust font size, color, and position to your liking.
  • Better quality — soft subtitles don’t degrade video quality like hardcoded ones can.
  • Future-proof — we can add new languages without re-encoding the entire video.

All new releases (720p and above) now use this system. Older 550p encodes (K Drama, Anime) remain with hardcoded English subs for compatibility.

Step-by-step for web player:

  1. Click on Stream Now button and Start playing the video in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.).
  2. Hover your mouse over the video to reveal the control bar.
  3. Click the “CC” or “Subtitles” button (usually at the bottom-right).
  4. A dropdown will appear with all available subtitle tracks.
  5. Select your preferred language — the subtitle will appear on screen.
  6. You can also turn subtitles off by selecting “Off” or “None”.

💡 Tip If the CC button is missing, try clicking the “Settings” gear icon and look for “Subtitles” or “Captions”.

If the subtitle button isn’t visible, try these steps:

  • Tap the screen twice to cycle through overlay modes — sometimes the controls hide.
  • Look for a “…” or “More” menu — subtitle options are often there.
  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of YUX Player from the Google Play Store.
  • If the video doesn’t have embedded subtitles, the button may be grayed out — try a different encode (720p / 1080p).
  • As a last resort, you can download an external .srt file and load it manually via YUX Player’s “Load subtitle” option.

Yes! The KimoiTV mobile app (Android only) fully supports soft subtitles. But Android App is only available through VIP program only for now.

  • YUX Player (recommended for Android).
  • The subtitle selection works the same as on the web — tap the CC icon and choose your language.
  • For 550p KDrama videos, subtitles are hardcoded and always visible.

We recommend using YUX Player for the best subtitle experience on Android.

Not at this time. The 550p KDrama & Anime library will keep its hardcoded English subtitles for the foreseeable future.

  • Re-encoding thousands of videos to add soft subtitles would take enormous resources.
  • Hardcoded subs work reliably on all devices and players without any configuration.
  • If you need language selection, we encourage you to watch the 720p or 1080p versions instead.

We’re always evaluating feedback — if demand is high, we may revisit this decision.

Yes! Both YUX Player and modern web players support subtitle customization.

  • YUX Player (Android): Go to Settings → Subtitles → adjust size, color, background, and position.
  • Web Player (browser): Click the “Settings” gear → “Subtitles” → choose font size and style (available in most modern players).
  • Customizations are saved per device, so you only need to set them once.

If you’re using an external player like VLC or MX Player, they also offer extensive subtitle styling options.
